Why I ditched my trusty Canon for an Olympus Pen

One of the many unexpected discoveries over the past five years as a blogger, is my love and passion for photography. While I’ve always enjoyed photography. It wasn’t until I started blogging that I found myself developing an unexpected love and passion for it. But when I first started as a blogger, I didn’t have a big fancy camera. Like many, I started taking my blog pictures on my phone before moving to a basic point and shoot camera.

But as time went on, I got increasingly frustrated at how bad my pictures were and longed to be a ‘proper’ blogger with a big fancy Canon camera. So three years ago, I took the plunge and invested in a Canon 700D. And it was honestly one of the best blogging decision I’ve ever made. Since then I’ve taught myself (thanks to YouTube) how to get the most out of the camera to create the pictures I want to create.

And having used the Canon for three years now, I really love how easy it is to use. How easy it is to achieve the pictures I want. But what I don’t love is the size of it. It’s big and bulky and just generally a pain to take out and about. Which is what’s promoted the move to an Olympus Pen.

Now I’m sure most of you would have seen this camera before. It’s stylish with a retro feel to it. It’s easy to use. Takes beautiful pictures. But most importantly of all, it’s easy to take out and about. Which is what drew me to it in the first place. That and the fact I had the chance to use one at an event recently and couldn’t believe how easy it was to take beautiful pictures in less than perfect conditions.

Which is why I decided to treat myself this year and make the move away from Canon over to the gorgeous Olympus Pen E-PL8. And despite only having it for a week or so, I’m hooked already. And wondering why I didn’t do this months ago. I’m officially an Olympus Pen convert!

And if you’re thinking of moving across to an Olympus Pen, you can find some amazing deals here.

What do you think of this camera? Do you have a passion for photography? If so, what is your camera of choice?

I have be toying with finally making this purchase for a few months, I’d love it if you could do maybe a little tutorial about how easy it is to use at first. I was also wondering how good the video quality was as I’m also contemplating vlogging at some point this year and I’d love a camera that could do that as well as taking beautiful pictures! Thanks, and I hope you enjoy your new toy! x
