Now I don’t know about you, but although I love to spend money. And I REALLY love to spend money. I also love to save money and bag myself a bargain in the process. Which is why I love the Black Friday sales. Now, it can be overwhelming with the amount of deals on to know what is a bargain and what isn’t. Which is why I tend to have a list of things that I know I want. And most importantly, how much they usually cost. So I can see if it is really is a bargain, or not, come Black Friday. So if you’re as nosey as I am, let me share with you all what I spent in the Black Friday sales.
Now the first two purchases weren’t technically done on Black Friday. They were done towards the start of the month in the Singles Day sales. Which I think is the Far East version of the Black Friday sales. But they begin at the start of November and tend to be focused on the luxury market.
So if you follow me on Instagram, then you may have already seen this beauty. But I picked up the Stone Check Cashmere Scarf from Burberry that I’ve wanted for, FOREVER. Seriously, I’ve lusted over this bad boy for so long now that I know what the price increases have been.
As well as the fact that this item never usually goes into the sale. But for Singles Day, the luxury French website 24S had a huge 22% off! It took all of three seconds for me to decide that this was a deal too good to pass up. It still cost me £288.60, but that felt like a bargain compared to the £370 retail price.
Next up is another item that was reduced in the Singles Day offers. But this time at Harvey Nichols. Again, this item is one that I have lusted after for so long. Long enough to know that like the Burberry scarf. These beauties very rarely go into the sale. And that is the Valentino Rockstud Sandals in the colour Poudre.
It may be December. I may have had ALL my holidays cancelled this year. But by god next year I’m going to make use of these beauties on a beach somewhere. Especially given the fact that despite having 20% off the asking price, they still cost a slightly eye watering £284.20.
Now it’s time for the true Black Friday sale spends. And in true Black Friday style, these actually happened during the week of Black Friday. First up is a Dyson. Which again is something that I’ve lusted after for a long time. Can you sense a pattern emerging?
Since moving into my own place a couple of years ago, I’ve been using a cordless Hoover. And while it was fine at the beginning. It’s not fine now. Seeing as I’m the one whose been doing my cleaning over the pandemic, it was time that I rewarded myself with a new vacuum cleaner in the form of the daddy of all vacuum cleaners. A Dyson.
And best of all, I saved a huge £110 off the retail price. So it only cost me £299 from John Lewis. But let’s be honest. On a cost per use basic, this Dyson will be paying for itself soon.
And the final Black Friday purchase, was a slightly more impulse buy. You see, having brought Burberry Scarf at the beginning of the month, I soon realised I didn’t actually have a coat that I could wear with the scarf. I know First World Problems.
And it is a First World Problem. But one that I thought could be fixed by taking advantage of 20% off Mint Velvet at John Lewis. Which is how I ended up adding a grey, single breasted beauty into my basket late one night. Not only is it exactly what I was after, but for £143.20 it’s also the kind of coat that will last me. Which is the best kind of bargain.
So all in all, I spent £1,015 in the Black Friday sales. Which is a ridiculous amount to spend. But I feel like I should caveat it by saying I have a birthday before Christmas. Which I always like to treat myself to something nice to make up for the fact that it’s up there with one of the worst times of the year to have a birthday.
Plus, I’ve saved so much money by working form home this year that it feels justified to spend my feelings on things that will bring me joy while we’re going through this crazy time at the moment.
Let me know in the comments below what bargains you got in the Black Friday sale.
