When it comes to American cult brands, it doesn’t get much bigger than Makeup Geek. Created by YouTuber Marlena back in 2012, the brand has grown to true cult status with their collection of gorgeous products and highly pigmented shades. Before the brand launched on Beauty Bay last November, the only way to get your hands on these beauties was by ordering from the US and paying a huge customs fee. Now that it’s easier for us across the pond to get our hands of these cult products, I thought I’d share with you all my three to try from Makeup Geek.
First up let’s start with the eyeshadow. Now I have to say that Makeup Geek’s standard eyeshadows are less than half the price of MAC’s and the quality is just as good if not better. They’re incredibly similar in texture to MAC’s but I’m not sure they’re as creamy as the Urban Decay shadows I have. And even with oily lids, the shadow stayed in place throughout the day. Which is seriously impressive – especially in this heatwave we’re having at the moment!
Makeup Geek Eyeshadow in ‘Cocoa Bear’
This is a really gorgeous warm chocolate brown matte shade that is incredibly smooth and pigmented. It makes the perfect shade for a brown smoky eye or to deepen out the crease.
Makeup Geek Blush in ‘Romance’
I love using this shimmery peach shade to add a gorgeous glow to your cheeks. Makeup Geek’s blushes are known for gliding on effortlessly on to the skin while delivering long-lasting pigmentation. And this one certainly delivers. I also love that the pressed powder is easy to blend, it’s lightweight and you can build up the coverage you want.
Makeup Geek Contour Powder in ‘Bad Habit’
And finally we have the Contour Powder in ‘Bad Habit’. If you’re looking for a contour powder that’s lightweight, blendable and can give you the illusion of chiselled cheekbones, then this is the powder for you. It looks so natural on the skin and you can build it up for the coverage you want.
Not only are these products incredibly affordable but I love that you use them to create your own personalised palette.
