Happy Monday everyone! So I thought I’d try and lighten up what is arguable the worst day of the week, with a fun post. Now if you’ve seen my previous posts on this (you can see the beauty blogger made me buy it part 1 here, and part 2 here), then you’ll know I’m heavily influenced by my fellow beauty bloggers. So much so that most of the purchases I make are based on their opinion of a product. I mean if they love it, then I’ll surely love it right? So here are the latest makeup bits that beauty bloggers have made me buy:
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Surreal Light
Now this palette has had a lot of love on this blog and it’s easy to see why. You can find my original review here, but I was in two minds about getting this. Part of me feel in love with it at first site – I mean it’s a marble palette! But the other more sensible part was thinking I’d just spend a fortune on the Jaclyn Hill Champagne Face Palette and did I really need another palette? Well being surrounded by all the lovely contributors for Really Ree, as well as the woman herself, convinced me that yes. Yes I do need this palette.
Nars Sheer Glow Foundation
Having heard so many other bloggers rave about this product made me want to try it for myself. And again, I was not disappointed. I much prefer something lighter on my skin and this is just lovely. Although you might think this would provide a ‘sheer glow’ finish. It actually has more of a medium coverage that leaves your skin looking flawless and glowing. It’s easy to apply and lasts all day, despite my oily skin.
Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm
This cult skincare product is loved by so many bloggers and YouTubers and now it’s one of my favourites as well. It’s so much more than your average cleaning balm and an absolute joy to use. Not only does it smell incredible but it’s such a relaxing and soothing experience to massage it into the skin. It’s packed full of moringa seed extract, wild sea fennel and vitamin E to help minimise the appearance of open pores, while orange, neroli and mandarin oils work to rejuvenate and revitalise your skin. Plus with the jasmine, cedarwood and rose, it reconditions dehydrated and troubled skin and gives a daily boost to dull, dry and mature skin. It’s like a real life magic potion.
Real Techniques Bold Metals Brushes
Now these are probably some of the prettiest brushes I own. But I’m not sure I would have splashed the cash if I hadn’t read quite a few reviews about them first. And despite the price tag, these brushes are worth every penny. All the brushes in this collection have a weighted stem which makes them really comfortable to hold and as the handles go down to a point at the end, the brushes won’t roll off your dressing table while you apply your makeup. The brushes are also made with ultra high grade synthetic bristles, meaning you can use these with cream, liquid or powder products and are so soft, but also dense so they pick up and apply the product with ease.
L’Oréal Paris Infallible Mega Gloss
There was so much hype around these lip-glosses and being the beauty addict that am. I completely feel for the hype. But it was worth it! The formula of the L’Oreal Paris Infallible Mega Gloss lip gloss is really light and not sticky at all. It’s a rich moisturising formula that I found lasted quite a few hours before needing to be re-applied. And this colour is just perfect for a your lips, but better colour.
Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet
Again it was the hype surrounding these launching that made me want to try them out for myself. And again, I wasn’t disappointed. For me, this colour is the perfect ‘my lips, but better’ shade, that can best be described as a pretty pink nude that flatters the complexion and doesn’t wash me out. Although the product is applied wet, it dries into a velvety smooth texture, that doesn’t dry out my lips, and lasts for hours on the lips.
Urban Decay Primer Potion
As someone with oily lids, believe me when I say that an eye primer is my best friend. But finding the perfect one had been tough. Until I tried this one from Urban Decay. It’s a light and silky cream that is used before you apply eyeshadow. By doing so you not only ensure that any product applied over the cream is prolonged in terms of wear, but the colour of the product is intensified too.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Riviera Illuminator
And last but by no means least, this gorgeous highlighter. Now regular readers of this blog will know how much I love a highlighter. And having heard so much about the Anastasia Beverly Hills brands, I couldn’t not try this one. I love the black compact with the mirror in the lid and the Art Deco design on the powder is a cute touch. It really is a beautiful palette – and it’s rose gold!

I love the Bourjois velvet lips but I think they work better over a lipstick as they can be a little patchy. Real technique brushes are awesome though!

If you have oily skin I wouldn’t have gotten Sheer Glow. I would have gone for Sheer Matte instead. Another great thing about NARS Sheer Glow is it is suitable for photography as it is spf free, many foundations on the market are rubbish for photos. When i was in college we had a MAC foundation kit which was full of spf. Many people didn’t like the ghosting effect it had. I asked my teacher too, why have they given us a kit of foundation that is not suitable for the course. They didn’t answer me. I ended up selling it on ebay and making over £100 on it. I bought a load of NARS Sheer Glow foundations. My teacher saw them and asked me how i was able to afford it. You should have seen the look on her face when I told her i sold the MAC stuff.
