So 2016 is almost at a close. And what a year it’s been. While I did have to question what was going on in the world at some points. Overall it’s been personally a great year for me. And in my opinion a great year for beauty. There have been some amazing products that I’ve discovered over the past 12 months, while is why I wanted to do this post. And share with you all my top 16 beauty products of 2016. Now some of them are new and some are just new to me. But here’s my top picks:
1 – Marc Jacobs Le Marc Liquid Lip Crème
As you may have seen from this post. I was lucky enough to head over to Harrods the day this product launched to try out the colours and pick my favourite shade – slow burn!
2 – Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Surreal Light
This was probably one of the most hyped palettes to launch this year. And I have to say I’m so pleased I own it. It’s also the most Instagramable makeup item I own considering it has a marble lid!
3 – BECCA Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette
This was probably the other most hyped palette to launch this year. And again, I’m thrilled with it. Having never picked up the original Champagne Pop I’m so pleased to have that one, plus four other shades in my collection.
4 – Urban Decay Subversion Primer and Perversion Mascara
This is my far the best mascara double act I’ve come across this year. Subversion coats your lashes in a thin white liquid that separates your lashes while making them look thicker. While Perversion tops it off add a blacker than black coating to really make your lashes look longer, fuller and more voluminous.
5 – Benefit Brow Collection
When the Good Ship Benefit arrived into London this summer there was only one thing anyone could talk about. And that’s the new Benefit brow collection. Some of our old favourites got revamped and some new favourites were added. Two of my personal favourites are Gimme Brow and Ready, Set, Brow!
6 – Nars Creamy Concealer
I’ve spoken about my love for this concealer for a while now. But I’ve yet to find anything that compares. And this year was no different. It’s still the concealer I turn to the most for concealing my dark circles and just generally making me look more awake and alert.
7 – Rodial Instaglam Compact Deluxe Banana Powder
If you haven’t tried this wonder powder from Rodial than you need. It acts like a highlighter to enhance your facial contours with a mattifying highlighted finish. It’s incredibly lightweight and stays in place throughout the day without caking or looking too heavy.
8 – Giogrio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation
Having heard so much about this foundation, 2016 was the year I finally tried it. And my only regret is not trying it sooner. With oil-free hydrating ingredients and micro-fil technology, the lightweight and silky texture just glides on effortlessly for a flawless all day coverage. It’s not too matte, or too dewy – it just looks like your skin but a lot better!
9 – Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer
For a drug store foundation, it doesn’t get much better than this beauty from Milani. The coverage is insanely high for a product that costs less than £10 and is perfect if you’re looking for a medium to high coverage foundation, that looks natural while giving you a gorgeous glow.
10 – Lola Picture Perfect Foundation
Again, another new brand to me but one that I’m now in love with. Their foundation is one of my favourite everyday ones to wear. It’s lightweight, so easy to blend and provides a flawless finish that lasts throughout the day.
11 – Dermalogica Phyto Replenish Oil
For a long time Dermalogica have been one of my favourite skincare brands, and their new offering this year did not disappoint. Their Phyto Replenish Oil is one of my favourite oils to use when I just want my skin to look that little bitter better and with a subtle glow.
12 – Jurlique Activating Water Essence
Again, another new brand for me this year, but again, now that I’ve discovered them I won’t let them go. Their Activating Water Essence has been one of the main reasons my skin has been looking as clear and as healthy as it has been this winter.
13 – Las Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo
Now this might be an oldy, but it’s a goody. I honestly don’t know what I would do without this beauty in my skincare routine. Whenever my skin is playing up, or a small spot appears, this just clears my skin up. And makes it look so smooth and healthy. As if no spots or breakouts had occurred.
14 – Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic
This has been one of my favourite toners to use for a while, but nothing I tried this year compared. Which is why it’s in this list. I love Liz Earle products anyway, but this toner is fab. You only need a quick spritz after cleansing and it’s locked in the moisture for the day.
15 – Elizabeth Arden Superstart Skin Renewal Booster
I first tried this after visiting the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa in Debenhams on Oxford Street and I’ve been hooked ever since. It’s dubed as a sort of pre-serum serum that works to boosts your skin’s natural defences, your skin’s ability to renew and just generally boost the results of your skincare products.
16 – Temple Spa Truffle Noir
Again, another new discovery for 2016 but one I’m glad to have found. Temple Spa are a brilliant skincare brand that specialise in making the most luxurious products. Like the Truffle Noir. Which is essentially the reason why I don’t look too bad first thing in the morning.
