My love affair with the beauty blender

I can’t remember when I got my first beauty blender. But I do remember wondering how I ever applied my foundation without it. I’m sure you’re all aware of the cult classic. But if you’re not. Where have you been? Ever since it launched in the early 2000’s, it’s revolutionised the way people apply their makeup. And it’s definitely revolutionised mine.

I’ve lost count of how many beauty blenders I’ve repurchased over the years. But as I was buying a new one the other week (honestly is there a better feeling than getting a fresh beauty blender?) It got me thinking about my love affair with that little sponge. And why, if you don’t already own one. You need to change that as soon as possible.

Although there are so many beauty sponges out on the market. The beauty blender is the original. And in my opinion, the best. There’s nothing that quite compares to it. I think it’s the combination of the density of the sponge, shape, and texture. All three just help to create a flawless texture and finish to the skin. And it honestly, makes your foundation look like skin.

For me, I find I get the best results when the beauty blender is damp. I just find that gives me the perfect blend and finish for my makeup. But I use the sponge to not only apply my foundation, but I also use mini versions to dab in my concealer under the eyes and any other areas that need extra coverage. You can even use the beauty blender for powder application.

They’re not the easiest of sponges to clean. but the solid blendercleanser makes cleaning your beauty blender an absolute dream.  Although, I would suggest you replace your sponge every few months. Especially if you’re using it as often as I use mine.

You can shop for beauty blenders here.

What do you think of beauty blenders? Have they changed the way you apply makeup?

I absolutely love my beauty blender and hate applying my makeup without it! Although expensive, I definitely feel it is worth it and will continue to repurchase. x

I used to use one many years ago and then it was recommended to use your fingers. I have recently got another blender and much prefer it

I have a cheap replica beauty blender, it works well but I do imagine the real deal is much better! I use mine constantly though! x

Is it strange that I have not used beauty blenders before? Although I probably should as it might help me to blend my makeup more aha!

I do love applying makeup with a sponge! I’m still not a pro at doing contouring but definitely love using mine to apply my foundation evenly. They definitely work better if you get them wet then squeeze all the water out!

I have never tried beauty blender before but have tried applying make up with other sponges. The beauty blender sounds like something I need to create a flawless finish

I’ve had the beauty blender as well as dupes from places such as Superdrug, it gives such a good finish compared to the brushes I used to use! X
