Happy Tuesday everyone! Now I don’t know about, but I’m all for spreading a little happiness around. I feel like the world can often feel like a big, gloomy place full of sadness and anger. I’m all for spreading a little more cheer and happiness. So ahead of International Day of Happiness on Tuesday 20th March, I thought I’d share with you all what makes me happy.
And it might not be what you think. Despite having a rather expensive designer bag habit and more makeup than I could ever need. For me, happiness comes from spending time with friends and family, achieving personal goals and seeing those around me succeed. I know I live a good life. Some may call me lucky, but I really believe that you create your own luck. I’m in a dream job because I’ve worked hard for the past seven years building a career to get to this point. Has it been tough? Hell yes! But am I happy? Absolutely. And it’s not because of the salary. I’m happy because the job is everything I could want. And the company is one where I could see myself for the next five to ten years.
I think as you get older, you naturally start to realise that what made you happy as a teenager and twenty-something, won’t necessarily make you happy once you hit your 30s. It took me until the age of 30 to stop chasing things that I thought would make me happy. The next bag I want in my wardrobe, the next car I want to drive, or the next holiday I want to book. And I started to stop and appreciate what I had. And you know what? I haven’t been happier.
It’s also made me realise that it’s the little things that make me a happier person. Spending a Sunday with my family eating a big lunch, going for a coffee catch up with a friend, or even spending some much needed time on my own. All make me a much happier person. As does receiving a gorgeous parcel like this from Hallmark to help me celebrate International Day of Happiness. Afterall, a mini nutella would make anyone happy, right?
You can find the Hallmark happiness gifts and cards on their website.
What makes you happy? Will you be spreading a little happiness ahead of International Day of Happiness?
