When it comes to false lashes, I’m not sure there are many other beauty products around that bring us joy, and anxiety at the same time. Because for some of us. Applying false lashes is a tough job. The glue doesn’t stick to your lashes, you can’t find lashes that fit your lashes, and they don’t last for more than a few hours. Trust me I’ve been there! There has been many nights where I’ve spent more time trying to apply false lashes than I have on getting ready! But not know. I’ve since learnt a few tricks and tips that have helped me master the art (and it is an art) of how to apply false lashes like a pro. So if you want to know how to do the same, here are my top tips:
Bend the lashes
Your eyes are naturally curved. So it only makes sense that your lashes should be curved as well. When you take a new set of lashes out of the packet, wrap the base of each lash around a finger for 10 seconds each. By doing this your lashes will have the perfect curve – just like your eyes!
Trim the lashes
I’m not sure why, but most false lashes are longer than you need them to be. So you’ll need to trim them for a natural look. Plus lashes that are smaller and fit your natural lashes, are a lot easier to apply as you don’t get any lash over hang.
Get the adhesive right
Some people like to use the lash glue that comes in the same pack as their false lashes. Some people like to use glue that dries clear or that dries black. Find out what works best for you. And when you apply the glue, apply it along the lashes and let it dry for a good 30 second before applying!
An applicator helps
Applying lashes is a lot easier when you don’t use your hands. Some people can do it with their hands. I’m not one of those people! Instead I find using tweezers or a lash applicator a lot easier. You just use the applicator to pick up the lashes and then looking down into a mirror, press the lashes into the centre part of your lashes, before using the applicator to press down the two ends. And then just keep that in place until they’ve set.
Use liner to fill in the gaps
I find that by using a little eye liner, you can blend your false lashes to your lash line. You can use either a liquid liner or a kohl liner – which ever you prefer.
Best places to shop for lashes
There are so many places you can buy lashes from. For me, I like picking up my favourite brands from Boots or from falseeyelashes.co.uk they have a fab selection of some of the best lashes around, including these pre-glued lashes from Eylure or the classic ones from Nouveau Lashes.
