Now I’m not sure if it was the fact that autumn was approaching and I fancied a change. Or whether it was because I had a week off with no much to do (thanks to not renewing my passport). But last month I decided it was time to revamp my bedroom. Does any else suddenly decide to do things like this on a whim? Or is it just me? I seem to be one of those impatient people that once I have an idea in my head. I need to do it immediately.
So during my week off from work, a trip to IKEA was planned and a bedroom revamp was on the cards. Now for me my bedroom really is my sanctuary. But it’s also my office. And glam room. And while the walls didn’t need repainting, the furniture definitely needed an update.
So storage was the first priority. I’m sure it won’t surprise you to hear but I have a rather large makeup, skincare, haircare and just general beauty collection. Now I’m very lucky to be sent lots of beauty products to try. But I do also buy lots of products as well. I’m just a complete beauty junkie. So I needed somewhere to store ALL of it. And what else could I get other than the blogger favourite Alex draws.
Now I have to admit, I can see why these are so popular. They’re so handy to have, and you can store so many products! Granted mine are all full already… but I’m sure I can make some space for all the new bits I’m planning on buying this side of Christmas. Along with being able to store so many products. They are also surprisingly easy to build. I built both on my own during an afternoon. So if I can do it, anyone can!
Next on the list was finding a chest of drawers big enough to store my non-hanging clothes. I’m a fan of the Hemnes range, so it made sense to pick up the huge six drawer chest of drawers. Which has all my non-hanging clothes perfectly folded and organised Marie Kondo style.
So now I had some lovely fresh white surfaces in my room. I couldn’t help but fill them with all my fun decorative items that had been in storage for ages. Items like the beautiful rose gold pineapple light, pink flamingo light, and the Kate Spade inspired storage boxes. And not forgetting the fairy lights across the top of the bed. In fact, it was only when I was going through a huge clear out that I realised quite how many sets of fairy lights I owned! But if you need any fairy light hacks or ideas, then check out Festive Lights. They’ve got loads on their blog!
What do you think of these home updates? Are you looking to revamp or decorate any time soon?
