Now I’m sure this won’t come as a huge surprise. But I’m fascinated with all things beauty. From the latest crazes and beauty products to the newest wonder creams and treatments. I’m obsessed with things that are going to help me look the best I can. I mean I’m sure I’m not the only one! One of the biggest reasons why I started this blog, was to share my passion for all things beauty. With other like minded beauty obsessives like yourselves. And while I’m pretty familiar with a lot of the potions and lotions out there. One thing I hadn’t tried before was a laser treatment. Until last month that is.
Last month I headed down to the Skin To Love Clinic in St Albans to have a Clear + Brilliant treatment. Now if you’re not sure what this treatment is. It’s a non-surgical and non-invasive treatment that fights the natural effects aging has on our skin. It helps to improve the tone and texture of your skin leaving you with a radiant and youthful glow. Which is what we all want right?
My whole experience at the Skin To Love Clinic in St Albans started with an initial consultation. Which was really helpful to speak to one of their experts about what my major skin concerns are. Now I’m aware that although I may be 30, I’m yet to see ‘obvious’ signs of aging yet. So for me my major skin concerns are the tone, texture and pores. Which is why the Clear + Brilliant treatment was recommended to me.
At my initial consultation, pretty in depth pictures were taken of my skin. This showed everything! From what sun damage I had and the number of pores, to what my skin texture is like and how many wrinkles I have. I mean it was seriously in depth! From that initial consultation, products were also prescribed for me to try to see if they could help with some of my initial concerns. Mainly that I have an extremely oily t-zone and at that point didn’t make a habit of wearing a daily SPF. I do now though thanks to them and the fab Intellishade they recommended!
About a month after my initial consultation and having given the products recommended to me a chance to work. It was time to have my Clear + Brilliant treatment. Now I have to say that the actual treatment doesn’t actually take half as long as I thought it would. Most of the time is spent waiting for the anaesthetic cream to work. This is applied only to ease any discomfort. But does leave your lips feeling rather tingly afterwards. Which is actually perfect for those of us who are too scared to have any lip fillers yet. As the effect is pretty similar.
The treatment itself involves a hand held laser being used on your face to target your skin concerns. Now for me this was applied all over my face and neck. It honestly doesn’t hurt, and a cool air fan is provided to use just to take the edge off the heat. It couldn’t have lasted more than about 15/20 minutes. And once your done, your face is covered in one of their prescribed serums just to add the moisture back into your skin. You are warned before treatment that you may look a little glowy and red. And the best way to describe it is that it felt like I’d been out in the sun for too long. And was now radiating my own body heat from my face.
Although the redness did develop for a few hours after the treatment by the next day it has completely calmed down again. After the treatment you’re required to keep using the serum they recommend and to avoid makeup for a day or two. I did notice that a couple of days after the treatment my skin did start to feel a little rough. Which is completely normal. But it didn’t last long at all. I continued to use the serum daily and after a few more days my skin felt the softest it’s felt in a long time!
Two weeks after the treatment it was back to the clinic to have a final check up and a final set of pictures done. Comparing these to the pictures I had done just before the Clear + Brilliant treatment, you could see that my skin texture had improved. Which had been a major concern for me before. And even three weeks on, my skin is still feeling so soft and smooth!
